Her Fears Came True
Katie’s biggest fear at the termination hearing was not that Grayson’s birth mother would try to claim him; she had already abandoned him after all. No, her biggest fear was that she wouldn’t even show up, and, sadly, that is exactly what happened. To Katie, Grayson is her son, and nothing can change that, but she also knows that he may one day ask about his birth parents. She dreads the day that she will have to look him in the eyes and tell him that his birth parents didn’t even bother to show up at the termination hearing.

Her home was still open to foster children, though practically speaking only for emergency cases.
