Emma Watson was a shy very kid, so much so that when the film’s casting team came to her primary school, she didn’t want to go for an interview with them. She was convinced by a teacher to try anyway, since she was the only little girl who refused to go. She was the very last girl to show up for the audition, and the rest is history.

In the book series, it is emphasized multiple times that Hermione had buck front teeth that were a bit too long. While at first Emma Watson had false teeth made for her, she struggled so much to speak with them in that they were eliminated and our film Hermione had a much more proportional smile.
