After her divorce, Katie felt lost and hopeless. She did not let herself wallow in self-pity for long, though. Katie knew that she had to make some serious changes if she was to have any hope of achieving her dreams. She quickly got to work, reimagining her life completely. Katie knew she needed to get out of Alabama, even if it meant leaving behind her friends and family. After much consideration, Katie decided to make a move from Birmingham, Alabama, to Denver, Colorado. Moving half-way across the country is a scary prospect, but she had just come out of a divorce, so she was ready for anything. Little did she know just how much this move would change her life.
