Secret Pacific Base
You see Johnston Atoll here, which is also called Kalama Atoll by Hawaiians. It’s unincorporated and found between the Hawaiian Islands and the Marshall Islands and used as an airbase, refueling depot, testing site for nuclear weapons, and much more.
No More Pilot Fatigue?
This strange looking contraption helped pilots fight fatigue and trained them for long missions without breaks. The photograph was taken in 1952 and only recently became declassified. It looks somewhat unethical, but it’s all history now.
