Despite her hesitation at first, Chip and Joanna ended up having a great time together. They realized they both shared a love for interior design and construction, which brought them closer together. After dating for over a year, in 2003 they finally got married.

Since Chip had been working in the construction business since he was in college and Joanna was talented with interior design, it seemed like a natural move for them to start a business together for home makeovers. Their first home together was one of their very first projects.
